One Red, One White, One Black

Original composition by Dale Diddens 1998

Three little boys playing out back,

One red, one white, and one black.

For having fun they all had the knack.

They were all playing army attack,

One Red, one white, and one black.

Later inside their moms said you mind,

Different friends you had better find.

Those friends of yours will leave you behind.

You should only play with your own kind.

One red, one white, and one black.

Later in life when all three were teens,

They still hung out, enjoyed the same things.

Their parent’s involvement was now very lean,

When they were around, they were hurtful and mean.

One Red, one white, and one black.

Now at age twenty, all on their own,

Without each other, they would all be alone.

Without any money, without real homes,

They all had to live in the drug battle zone.

One Red, one white, and one black.

Three young men, one black, one red, and one white,

Together to the end they were willing to fight.

In a pool of blood all three lay one night,

They knew till the end their friendship was right.

One black, one red, and one white.

When we’re gone and in heaven or hell,

The color we were, you’ll be unable to tell.

You must remember, and your friends must as well,

Love must be real and color blind as well.

One red, one white, and one black

LOVE IN THE TREES

Original composition by Dale Diddens

One day out in the park,

It was cold and almost dark.

I was all alone searching the night,

When there she was, what a sight.

She was a beauty, through and through,

She had it all, what could I do?

We walked and talked all through the trees,

At last she said I’m wild and free.

She said I don’t want you to move in,

Don’t even think this is a sin.

Don’t ever think about marrying me,

I just want you to make love to me.

My life will never be the same,

Some think I’m crazy, really insane.

Where ever I am, where ever I’ll be,

I will always remember love in the trees.
